This week we are going to cover keeping up with social media trends.
What’s up Fish Fans! My name is Marcus. You’re watching Marketing Madness, the Blue Fish vlog!
In the world of marketing the innovation NEVER ENDS! This is great thing but a lot of you are thinking “how do I keep track of everything that's changing and still have time to do my job?”
First, make a Twitter list of influencers in your industry. The latest and greatest things will be trending there and you can curb this influence to reflect more of your industry or marketing style. Don’t be afraid to throw in a few people in that you maybe “don’t love”, but are always in the know.
Secondly, join groups on LinkedIn and Facebook. Although some of them are filled with self-promotion and spam, look for some that hold valuable discussions and meaningful interactions. It’s a bonus if you can find a local group that also meets regularly throughout the year!
Third, subscribe to social media blogs. One of our favorites is Buffer Social. These people are dedicated to knowing what is up and coming along with updates on issues you might be having and how to fix them. With read times of 2 to 10 minutes, schedule it in your calendar to search for one or two a week. This is something you can even do while making coffee. Chemex lovers, you’ve got plenty of time to read the long ones..
Fourthly? Another great way to learn in a short amount of time is to attend a conference. The great thing about conferences these days is that you can attend virtually or in-person depending on the event. Search for some going on in your area and make sure to check your emails from your favorite influencers to see if one of them might be near you!
And lastly, listen to podcasts. Turn them on while commuting, at the gym, or during your lunch break to use more time wisely. Some ideas of podcasts to listen to can include: The #AskGaryVee Show with Gary Vaynerchuk, Social Media Social Hour with Tyler J. Anderson, or Hootcast put on by the good folks at Hootsuite.
Well, that’s a wrap for this week! I want to thank you for checking in. Make sure to hit that like button. And if you have any questions or comments leave them down below.
