This week we are going to talk about why Google ads and the difference between search, display, and video campaigns.

What’s up Fish Fans! My name is Marcus. You’re watching Marketing Madness, the Blue Fish vlog!

Last week we talked about the difference between Facebook ads and Google ads. This week we are going to talk about the difference between Search Campaigns, Display Campaigns, and Video Campaigns. This is important as it is really easy to spend a lot of unnecessary money with Google if you are not diligent about where you are placing the ads for your business.

Search campaigns are what you normally think of when you think of advertising with Google. Someone goes to Google.com and types in some words and clicks search and results appear with Ads at the top of the page. Those ads that appear when searching on Google are part of a Search Campaign.

Display Ads are ads that appear on other websites. Say that your sister Sally has a blog where she talks about her pet fish. She can go to Google and get a snippet of code that will allow Google to inject ads into her website. She gets paid based on impressions. So for every visitor to the page those ads appear on she may get a penny. Those ads are part of Google’s Display Network.

Video Ads are also exactly what you would think. They are ads placed on Youtube. So when you go to Youtube and try and watch a video but an ad appears and you have to wait for it to end before you can watch the content? Yea. That. They can be kind of annoying but the truth is that if they are done well then they can really engage with your audience.

So now you understand the difference and can make a more educated decision about where to place your ad spend money. In a couple of weeks, we’ll have to talk about retargeting, as that is a great way to really saturate the internet with your ads for someone that has shown an interest in your product.
