This week we are going to cover email newsletters and why you should use them.

What’s up Fish Fans! My name is Marcus. You’re watching Marketing Madness, the Blue Fish vlog!

Have you ever gotten a newsletter in your email? Of course you have! Newsletters and other marketing material make up the vast majority of emails that are sent on a daily basis. So much so that person to person email is quickly becoming a dated method of communicating. But why is there just so much marketing email being sent?

It’s because it works. Seriously.

Email newsletters aren’t just spam. They’re a great method to keep your brand in someone’s mind. It’s a way of reminding people that you exist on a regular basis that they’re almost guaranteed to see. The average person checks their email about 15 times per day. 15! How would you like it to get your messaging seen by your leads 15 times? Even if it’s just the subject line! There’s value in that. And that means there’s no reason you shouldn’t at least give it a try.

But the thing about an email is that it’s competitive. Really competitive. Look at your own inbox. How much unread “junk” is sitting in your inbox right now? Why didn’t you open it? Chances are a lot of that is email you never actually asked for; or email that has no value to you. That shouldn’t deter you from marketing by email, though. Instead it should spur you into making something that would have actual value to your ideal customer or client. Sending crap content is liable to just get you caught in a spam filter.

Instead of trying to send out a message to your leads every single day in a desperate attempt to get clicks, take it a little slower. Try once a week, or even once a month. However long it would reasonably take to put something together. Use that time to give your subscribers something they’d want to open and read, not something they have to throw away on a daily basis.
